ACC funding for your hearing aids
If an accident or a noisy work environment has caused your hearing loss, you may be eligible to get ACC funding for your hearing aids.
Applying for ACC funding through Dilworth Hearing is a simple three-step process and you get regular guidance along the way.
3 steps to ACC funding
Before you embark on the application process, find out if ACC hearing aid funding is the right path for you. To know this, book an appointment with one of our expert audiologists and get your hearing checked.
The ACC funding application can then be completed in three simple steps:
1. Lodging a claim.
Our team will help you do an easy questionnaire so we can learn about your work history. Your audiologist will then use your hearing test results and work history to see if you can apply for ACC funding. If you are eligible, your audiologist will lodge a claim with ACC on your behalf.
2. Check-in with an ENT specialist.
ACC will make you an appointment with an Ear Nose and Throat specialist who will decide how much of your hearing loss is due to your work (this consultation can be done over the phone or in-person). ACC will then give you their decision and what funding amount you can use for your hearing aids.
3. Choose your hearing aids.
Book another appointment with your Dilworth Hearing audiologist to discuss your needs and confirm which hearing aids you would like to use. If you have approved funding by ACC, remember to bring your ACC approval letter with you to the appointment. You can choose fully funded hearing aids, or you can pay the difference if you decide on a different solution.
If your application is unsuccessful.
Don’t worry, your audiologist will still help you find the best hearing solution for your lifestyle and budget.
Most New Zealanders are eligible for the Ministry of Health subsidy of $1,022.22 towards a pair of hearing aids. This is available to all New Zealand citizens and permanent residents, aged 16 years and above, once every six years.
